Toolbox: Social Emotional Learning Curriculum (grades K-3)
Toolbox guidance lessons are taught in the classroom by the Counselor in grades K-3. Toolbox is a research-based social-emotional learning curriculum. It teaches critical social competencies necessary for academic and life success such as: resiliency, self-management, and responsible decision-making skills.
Years of research in the field of childhood resiliency and social-emotional learning have taught us that emotional and behavioral regulation skills can be explicitly taught in schools and that the benefits are huge! Social Emotional Guidance Lessons (grades 4-5)
Guidance lessons for fourth and fifth graders revolve around the following themes:
Students are also introduced to community circles. "Circle time" builds community and strengthens relationships. Circles can also be used as a restorative tool when a problem or conflict arises in the classroom community.
